Lt. Col. David Crockett Coleman led the 8th Missouri (US) Volunteer Infantry Regiment at many Civil War battles.   (Do not confuse him with the David Coleman who led the Confederate 39th North Carolina Infanty Regiment.)

David C. Coleman is buried in Calvary Cemetary, St. Louis, Missouri.   Coleman's original Civil War pistol was offered for sale in the year 2002 for $9,5000.
